Abstract

Landfill site sub-district Alak (TPA Alak) was built in 1997 that has started the operation since 1998 is the main dumping facilities that has 9,14 Ha in Kupang City. The landfill Alak can be reached +16 kilometers away from the town. In 2018, the landfill produces 100 ton each days of the amount of waste and it can be more in the rainy seasons. The activies of dumping of Alak landfill, the amount of waste impacting the environment area which is surroundings it. To anticipate the the future impacts, the environment needed to have basic concept planning’s by the existing of the landfill. Based on the observation results, the potential and the impact in Alak landfill also the area that around it, the identified impact focusing on mobilization labor steps operations, the treatment of waste, dump truck and facilities leachates treatment (BPL). The most impact of the landfill are interrelated with the leachate, dust and scattered of waste also precaution the slums in the surrounding area. The dominant impact is related to the impact of leachate, dust and scattered of the plastic waste and slums due to scavenger activities. Based on the aforementioned identification a strategy for handling the impact of the landfill on the surrounding area was formulated using the SWOT method, while remaining focused on handling the impact of leachate, dust and scattered of the plastic waste and prevention of slums. The results of this analysis will be identification of landfill impacts, strategies and component of principles into landfill planning.
