Abstract

Subsidized housing is one of the government programs aimed at low-income people to have a decent home at an affordable price and credit scheme. Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara is one of the places where the subsidized housing program is implemented. Several developers in Kupang City have developed the concept of growing houses so that residents can adjust home design according to their needs. This independent process has resulted in various development models of subsidized housing which are thought to reflect the priority needs and capacities of the local people. This research topic is very meaningful for developers and the government to optimize the subsidized housing program in the future. This research uses descriptive-qualitative methods with data collection techniques in the form of field observations, interviews, and documentation. Through this research it is known that the development of subsidized housing independently requires a variety of systematic processes, including the addition of space related to the basic activities of residents, to the addition of elements related to the aesthetic and safety of the house.
