Abstract
The research was conduted at Mata Air village, Central Kupang subdistrict, Kupang Regency from August to September 2021. This research aim to determine the interest of rural youth on lowland rice farming, what socio-economic factors that affect rural youth’s interest in lowland rice farming. The research was determined intentionally with 82 rural youth as respondents using the Slovin formula. The type of data collected were primary data and secondary data. The data collected was then analyzed using the average skor to determine the first objective, and using multiple linear regrssion analysis to determine the second objective.
The results showed that: (1) The interest of rural youth at Mata Air Village, Central Kupang Subdistrict, Kupang Regency with a maximum skor of 32 or (40%). The average skor obtained is 64% with the category of “Quite Interested”. (2) Based on the results of multiple linear regression analysis, the land area factor are,age and land ownership status have a significant effect on the interest of rural youth. Meanwhile, education and distance from the city of Kupang have no significant effect on the interest of rural youth on lowland rice farming at Mata Air Village, Central Kupang District, Kupang Regency
