Abstract

The emergence of Covid-19 as a global pandemic affected many sectors, including Public Open Spaces (POS) in urban areas as in Lasiana Beach's Kupang city. POS as cultural, social-economic functions, as places for interaction and recreation, cannot function properly due to the unpreparedness of POS to adapt to Covid-19. Therefore, research to identify readiness in Lasiana Beach adaptation to Covid-19 is needed. Descriptive qualitative with Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) as the method to identify the adaptive condition. Within the questionnaire for respondents who had activities in Lasiana Beach. The parameters related to POS design aspects affected by Covid-19 include the quality of public space/park, to improve public health quality, and the quality of public spaces service in accommodating work patterns by implementing social distancing/proxemic, and government regulations. From five parameters, 16 indicators are formulated to be studied. Based on the IPA method's analysis results, from 16 indicators, seven indicators in the B quadrant indicated good performance to be maintained or improved. The nine indicators left are spreading over two quadrants and require further handling. There are four indicators in the A quadrant with poor performance while, five in quadrant C with low performance. This study's results show that Lasiana Beach as POS is not adaptive to Covid-19. Therefore, repairs and improvements to create a POS that adaptive Covid-19.
