NALISIS CURAHAN TENAGA KERJA WANITA TANI DALAM USAHTANI JAGUNG PADA ZONA IIIAY DI TIMOR BARAT

Abstract

This research is about the analysis of the poverty of female farm laborers in corn maize (Zea maes L.) in zone IIIay in West Timor. The purpose of this study to determine: 1) Characteristics of corn farming. 2) Proportion between female labor and male labor in maize farming. 3) The influ- ence of socio-economic factors on the outpouring of female labor in corn farming activities.The method used in this study is the survey method, the type of data collected in the form of primary data and secondary data. Determining the location of the study was done purposively (purposive sampling) and sampling method is done by multi stage sampling.

Based on the results of the research can be concluded that: 1) The characteristics of corn farm- ing in the research location are as follows: a) Average land area of 50-100 acres; b) Age of Re- spondents, in the range of 15-55 years, with percentage 92.50%; c) The level of education in the research location includes the majority of farmers who have elementary education level (SD), with percentage 61.25%; d) The largest number of family dependents is in the range of 1-4 people with the number of respondents as many as 67 people with a percentage of 57.50%. 2) The proportion between female farm labor and male labor force in the research location, overall female labor force is 43.52%, which is done by female farm laborers and the rest 56,48, done by male labor. 3) So- cio-economic factors that have real effect on the work time of women farmers are age factor, land area and the status of the cluster. While the factor of the number of dependents of the family and the level of education has no significant effect.
