Abstract
Low birth weight (LBW) babies is baby with birth weight less than 2500 grams regardless of gestation. LBW is influenced by several factors such as Antenatal Care (ANC). ANC influenced by determinants. The purpose of this study was to determine the determinants of utilization of the ANC and its influence on the incidence of LBW in Sikumana health centre Kupang city. This type of research is quantitative, cross-sectional study design. The number of samples taken 39 pregnant women with nonprobability saturated sampling. Analysis data as descriptive, simple logistic regression and multiple logistic regression. Simple logistics analysis results showed the influence of the level of education (p = 0.017), the support of her husband (p = 0.022) as well as general health examination and laboratory (p = 0.028) against the ANC. Results of the multiple logistic regression analysis showed support for her husband (p = 0.028; OR = 0.056; 95% CI = 0.004 to 0.739) and general medical examination and laboratory service (p = 0.041; OR = 0.159; 95% CI = 0.027 to 0.931) a factor the most influence on the utilization of the ANC. There is a strong relationship between the use of ANC and the incidence of LBW (p = 0.000; r = 0.612; OR = 0.545 95% CI = 0.318 to 0.936). Determinant factors of ANC had no effect on the incidence of low birth weight (p> 0.05). Health workers need to increase the coverage of complete ANC (K4) with encouraging her husband to give support to his wife during pregnancy and provides a general examination and laboratory in the ANC service to reduce the incidence of LBW.
