Abstract
Cities in Indonesia have a different history and character of settlement growth from one another. Settlements on the banks of the Siak river are the beginning of the history of Pekanbaru City, namely in the Senapelan District area. One of the forerunners of the city of Pekanbaru is Kampung Bandar, which is an administrative area in the form of a urban village in the Senapelan sub-district. In the Kampung Bandar area there are still many stilt houses. The stilt house is a traditional house in the form of stilts or pillars, that is, the base of the house is not attached to the ground and has various heights. The qualitative method is the method used in this study using a sample of selected stilt houses located in Kampung Bandar Pekanbaru. This research aims to identifying the characteristics of stilt houses in Kampung Bandar Pekanbaru based on their spatial system, namely based on spatial patterns, house orientation and spatial organization. The results of the research are expected to provide information and public knowledge regarding the characteristics of stilt houses and become a reference for preserving the existence of stilt houses in Kampung Bandar because Kampung Bandar is the beginning of the city of Pekanbaru.
