Abstract

To further advance education in Indonesia, the government assists students with good academic potential but economic limitations. In 2022, Nusa Cendana University (UNDANA) will have 2,195 students accepted for the KIP Lecture scholarship. However, UNDANA still needs to provide a special place to live for UNDANA students who receive the KIP Tuition scholarship. On average, students live in boarding houses near campus where space and housing facilities need to be improved. The distance between boarding houses is very close, resulting in a lack of green open space. The design method used is the glass box method. The glass box method is a rational thinking method that objectively and systematically examines things logically, freeing them from irrational thoughts and considerations, such as sentiments and tastes. This design also uses a green architectural approach as a guide in design. The design of the UNDANA student guesthouse applies the concept of green architecture that emphasizes the 3R principles, namely, reduce, reuse, and recycle. Its applications include placing bio-pore holes on the pavement, reusing rainwater and used water, using solar panels, and reusing used frames as railings in the balcony area. The main facilities provided in the guesthouse include bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, study rooms, and supporting facilities such as a lobby, laundry, sports area, hall, futsal field, ATM centre, print and photocopy area, and minimarket.
