Studi Pemanfaatan Fungsi Sosial Ruang Terbuka Hijau (RTH) di Kota Kupang

Abstract

Development that does not prioritize environmental aspects and only leads to the economic sector alone can cause adverse impacts on environmental quality. There are many changes in the process of changing the function of green / non-built land into built land, without seeing Green Open Space (RTH) as green infrastructure in urban areas that can improve the quality of the urban living environment that is comfortable, fresh, beautiful and clean, as a means of the urban environment which is the principle of a sustainable city. In addition, the form of RTH will also make the harmony of the natural environment and the built valuable environment to benefit urban communities. This study aims to analyze the type and implementation of the social function of Green Open Space (RTH) in Kupang City. This research was conducted using a survey method with descriptive analysis. Data were collected using observation techniques, structured interviews, and questionnaires. The research results conclude that the socio-cultural functions played by public green open spaces, Taman Nostalgia, Taman Tagepe, and Taman Tirosa, as a whole, have been able to meet the community's needs within the city. The people of Kupang City can carry out various activities related to social interaction. The social function played by public green spaces has worked well. However, improvements must still be made, as some indicators are still categorized as moderate or even low, especially in Ina Boi Park and Alun-alun Park.
