Analisis Preferensi Mahasiswa Arsitektur Terhadap Teknik Pencahayaan Dalam Fotografi Bangunan
Main Article Content
Abstract
Architectural photography plays a significant role in architectural practice by visually conveying the character of a design. One of the key elements in building photography is lighting technique, which greatly influences the perception of space, texture, and atmosphere. This study aims to analyze
architecture students’ preferences for lighting techniques in architectural photography and explore the factors influencing those preferences. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using semi-structured interviews and visual documentation. Participants consisted of mid- to final-year architecture students with experience in photographing buildings. The results show that natural lighting, especially during the golden hour, is the most preferred technique due to its ability to create a warm and aesthetic impression. Some students also favor high-contrast lighting to emphasize the geometric form of buildings. These preferences are shaped by visual experience, design references, academic assignments, and individual aesthetic tastes. The findings suggest that lighting techniques are not merely technical aspects but also a form of creative expression among architecture students. This research is expected to contribute to the development of photography-related learning in architectural
education.
