Abstract

The design of the Training and Performance Building for Traditional Dance in Belu Regency using an Analogy Architecture approach aims to create a cultural preservation facility that accommodates educational activities, training, and local traditional dance performances. Belu Regency possesses a rich heritage of traditions, symbols, and strong cultural structures, yet lacks representative facilities to support the development of traditional dance arts. The Analogy Architecture approach is employed as a method to transform the cultural values of Belu into spatial concepts, mass forms, structural elements, and architectural expression. The analogy used derives from the form of a traditional musical instrument (kendang/drum), which is then translated into mass composition, spatial patterns, and the contextual character of the building. The design process includes site analysis, space requirements, patterns of dance activities, and cultural perceptions of the local community. The final design results in a building with clear zoning between training areas, performance areas, and public zones, along with the use of forms and structures that reflect warmth, familiarity, and the cultural identity of Belu. The application of cultural analogies to the facade, spatial layout, and structural composition not only creates strong visual aesthetics but also reinforces symbolic meaning as a center for cultural preservation and local identity. Thus, the building is expected to function as a center for creativity, education, and cultural representation that strengthens the sustainability of traditional dance in Belu Regency.
