Abstract

In 2020 the South Coast tourism object of Kupang Regency in the Amarasi Barat region had increased tourism development with a high level of domestic visitors tourists from Kupang City. The management involves Village Owned Enterprises (BUMDES) of Tubafu Beach and Puru Beach, managed by the Church in Haubenkase Beach. However, Oesain Beach with an area of 10 Hain Merbaun Village, has not been appropriately managed. The Government of Merbaun Village has built several facilities, but they were damaged due to the natural conditions of the South Coast. Based on its conditions, it is necessary to develop marine tourism based on natural conditions in the South Coast of The Kupang Regency. The research method used is the index of beach tourism suitability, wind-friendly tropical architecture, coastal vegetation arrangement coastal security systems in tourist areas. The research results are 1) the coastal tourism suitability index shows that the South Coast area of Timor Island is very potential and meets the criteria to be developed as a unity South Coast tourist area and there two criteria in its development, namely the risk of wind or high waves and current speeds that can reach 0,36 m/s; 2) application of tropical architecture can answer the adaptation of buildings to coastal conditions combined with wind-friendly designs; 3) vegetation arrangements can be planted to reduce or filter wind, dust, heat; 4) beach security can be designed by making lifeguard towers according to beach conditions and providing flags or warning signs based on the level of its vulnerability.
