Abstract

Traditional architecture is built by the community based on the cosmological view and cultural symbolism that the community has. This view is manifested into signs and meanings embodied in space in architecture. Every space is interpreted and believed by the community to be standard and passed down to the next generation. Community culture that sometimes changes in development and affects the meanings contained in every activity in space and on architectural elements that exist in traditional houses. The problem of this research is how the dynamics of meaning that occur due to the activities and needs of residents to find out the meaning that occurs in traditional house spaces. The purpose of this research is to find out how the dynamics of the meaning of space are known and understood through every activity and symbol contained in the architectural elements of Ammu Banni Deo. The object of the study is the traditional house of Ammu Banni Deo sabu raijua which is still inhabited by some people in the Namata traditional village. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method by conducting interviews and observations on the activities of the residents of Ammu Banni Deo traditional village Namata, and the dynamics of the inhabitants of the indigenous peoples who inhabit and maintain the balance of their environment.
