Abstract
Nusa Cendana University Campus Area (Undana) - Penfui as a physical and social environment is experiencing rapid development in terms of function and land use. The International Alliance of Research Universities (2007), states that the campus environment can provide global program support, one of which is by applying the Green Campus by providing and utilizing open spaces in the campus environment. This open space in addition to functioning ecologically can also serve as a socio-cultural, economic, and aesthetic space that supports the activities of the academic community in the campus environment. This study aims to identify the existence of open space in the Undana Campus - Penfui. Identification was carried out through observations of setting and functional aspects in open spaces within the Undana - Penfui Campus. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach based on literature reviews and field observations. This research was conducted to describe the object of study by observing setting of open space and aspects of function. The results of the study show that the open space of the Undana - Penfui campus with an area of 80.08 hectares can support the city's green open space if the existing outdoor spaces are arranged and preserved. Utilization of open spaces in the Undana - Penfui Campus environment is as open courtyards (3,900 m2), parking lots (45,896 m2), parks (40,749 m2), sports fields (36,458 m2), and field laboratories (31,054 m2). The open space supports the learning process by creating a place that can shape the image and character of the campus area.
