Abstract
Traditional houses are a wealth of cultural heritage, which should be preserved and become a rich heritage of architectural works, including the Ngada Traditional House in Flores, NTT. The choice of ecological materials and construction methods that do not damage the natural setting is one of the hallmarks of this traditional house. However, there are comfort/health problems, especially in the main/core room, which is narrow in size with multiple functions as a kitchen as well as a living and resting room. As a kitchen that produces much smoke in a room without ventilation, of course, it will impact the respiratory health of the occupants. The smoke simulation results using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) Software in actual circumstances show CO2 levels in the air around 3500ppm. In contrast, when a solution is applied by adding chimneys, CO2 levels decrease significantly. This shows that it is necessary to have a present and endeavoured chimney so as not to reduce its sacred value.
