Abstract
The temple building is an early symbol of the entry of the Hindu-Buddhist religion in Indonesia. The temple is a place to pray and worship God or Gods. So that all temples in Indonesia are managed, preserved and cared for by the Ministry of Tourism. Not a few temple buildings are currently damaged due to natural factors, namely weathering. Weather is the main problem in destroying temples in Indonesia, especially in temple buildings that use the main material as andesite stone. The main feature of the location where the temple is built using andesite stone material is usually near the river and not far from the volcano. This location is a place where there are very extreme weather changes and can accelerate the weathering process of Andesite rocks. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of the composition of andesite stone in the Prambanan temple building to find a solution in the event of damage due to weathering that occurs in the main material of andesite stone. This study uses a qualitative observation method where information is obtained from primary sources through reports, scientific articles and books about the Prambanan temple and andesite stones. The results of this study indicate that the influence of weather can affect the state of the building. However, there are various ways to overcome the damage caused by the weather, such as restoration and cleaning of the temple area and thorough restoration.
