The focus of this research is to evaluate students’ reading comprehension through the application of the SQ3R method. The type of research used is class action research (PTK), which is carried out in several stages, namely planning, implentation, observation, tests, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 20 grade VI students, with data obtained through observation, tests, and interviews, then analyzed quantitatively. The results of the study showed that students’ understanding of the reading of “The Legend of the Komodo Princess” in the first cycle only reached a completeness level of 29% (5 students), while 71% (12 students) have not reached the minimum completeness criteria. However, after learning improvements were made in the second cycle, there was a significant increase with the average student score increasing from60,58 to 88,82. This study is a qualitative study involving recording in the form of words and sentences that the focus of the study supports. This study uses Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic approach. Data collection techniques used are interview techniques, note-taking, and observation techniques. Data analysis techniques are carried out by identifying data, selecting sentences in Sangguana folklore, classifying data, separating data/sentences of icons, indexes, and symbols, analyzing data, analyzing sentences contained in icons, indexes, and symbols, discussing data according to the theory used, discussing the overall results of the analysis based on the data obtained. Data description in the form of documentation with data in the form of sentences in Sangguana folklore and then used for data analysis activities in the form of icons, indexes, and symbols contained in Sangguana folklore. The results of the study showed that 1) the object signs found were icons containing 6 data, indexes containing 7 data, and symbols containing 8 data. Teknik pengupulan data dilakukan secara bertahap yakni dengan membaca, memahami, menandai, dan kemudian mencatat data yang berkaitan dengan unsur lokalitas baik itu dalam bentuk tema cerita, penggunaan nama tokoh, latar tempat, sosial budaya, jenis gaya bahasa yang digunakan, dan amanat yang disampaikan dalam novel “Meredam Dendam” karya Gerson Poyk. The purpose of this study is to describe the form and meaning displayed in the lyrics of the song Mas Mongko, Kapu Somba Momang, Bembong Lajar, Nipi Lonto Cimping by Eddy Ngambut. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The data collection techniques used are free listening techniques and note-taking techniques. The data analysis techniques used in this study are data triangulation, identifying metaphors in song lyrics, interpreting structural metaphors, orientational metaphors, and ontological metaphors in song lyrics based on Lakoff and Johnson's metaphor theory. The results of the study show that the forms and metaphors found in conceptual metaphors are 17 forms of metaphor. There are 8 data for structural metaphors, 1 data for orientational metaphors, and 8 data for ontological metaphors. The purpose of this study is to characterize the free verse poetry writing abilities of SMP Negeri 2 Kota Kupang students in Grade VII D. Writing theory and constructivism theory were used in this investigation since the study evaluates students' ability to compose poetic writings. This study employs a qualitative descriptive methodology and data from free verse poetry written by 15 seventh-grade D students. The findings demonstrate that students are competent in writing free verse poetry based on poetic components including title, theme connection to content, use of specific language, and message. The goal of this study is to ascertain how Luis Sepulveda's novel "The Old Man Who Reads Love Stories" is structured. The qualitative descriptive method is the approach taken. Tasrif's Stages of Plot theory is the one used in this study. When describing or illustrating data or facts, the qualitative descriptive method is employed. 'The Old Man Who Reads Love Stories' has five stages of story structure, according to the study's findings. The stage of exposition introduces the setting, characters, atmosphere, and characterization. Then the stage of conflict emergence, which involves the discovery of a corpse by the Shuar people, the quarrel between the Mayor and the Shuar people, and the arrival of Elder Antonio Jose Bolivar to mediate. The stage of conflict escalation presents the conflicts experienced by Elder Antonio Jose Bolivar and his wife Dolores Encarnacion, who is not pregnant, and the conflicts that arise when they move to a new home, facing life in an unfamiliar jungle, leading to his wife's inability to survive the outbreaks of fever and malaria, and his return from the Shuar people after a quarrel with the white people that led him to violate the traditions of the Shuar people, resulting in his expulsion from their community. The climax stage, which is the increasing number of murder victims by the jaguar, led to an expedition organized by the Mayor to capture the animal, followed by a fierce battle between the old man Antonio Jose Bolivar and the jaguar, resulting in the death of the animal. The problem in this research is whether the use of picture letter card media can improve the reading learning ability of second-grade students at SD GMIT No.7 Oebufu, Kupang City. The purpose of this research is to enhance the reading ability of second-grade students at SD GMIT No.7 Oebufu, Kupang City, using picture letter card media. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The study was conducted at SD GMIT No.7 Oebufu, Kupang City, with all second-grade class IIC students as the research subjects. The data collection techniques used were observation, reading skills tests, and documentation. The results of this study show that reading skills improved significantly through the use of picture letter card media. This is evidenced by the class-wide improvement in mastery: in cycle I, the success rate was 30% (6 students achieved mastery), while in cycle II, it increased to 85% (17 students achieved mastery). The improvement in reading skills can be seen from the increased average scores in aspects of accuracy, pronunciation, intonation, fluency, and clarity of voice.
