Abstrak

This research aims: (1) to describe the habitat conditions of the Alor Myzomela (Myzomela prawiradilagae) and the parrot on Alor Island, such as the Olive-headed Lorikeet (Trichoglossus euteles) and Yellow-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua sulphurea parvula), (2) to describe the characteristics of the food types of the Alor Myzomela (Myzomela prawiradilagae) and parrot species. This research was conducted on Alor Island consisting of two villages i.e. East Tanglapui Village, East Alor District, and Waisika Village, Northeast Alor District. The study was carried out over a period of 2 months, from March to April 2023. The data analysis method employed includes Vegetation Diversity Index Analysis, aimed at calculating the level of vegetation diversity in the two observation locations, and King's Equation Analysis, aimed at estimating bird population density based on the transect method. The Olive-headed Lorikeet inhabits habitat types in river valley areas, savanna forests, and candlenut plantations, with altitudes ranging from 200 to 300 meters above sea level to 1,114-1,431 meters above sea level, with a total population of 101.5 individuals. The Alor Myzomela, on the other hand, was found to inhabit habitat types around water sources (streams/dams), bushes, and community gardens at high altitudes, ranging from 35 to 250 meters above sea level, with a total population of 50 individuals. Characteristics of the food types of the Alor Myzomela include nectar from teak trees (Tectona grandis), gmelina (Gmelina arborea), coconut trees (Cocos nucifera), and cherry/kersen fruit (Muntingia calabura).
