The Effect of Replacing Concentrate with Pellets Made from Non-Conventional Energy Sources on the Intake and Digestibility of Nitrogen Free Extract and Energy in Male Bali Cattle Raised for Fattening
Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the effect of replacing concentrate with non-conventional energy source pellets on the consumption and digestibility of nitrogen-free extract (NFE) and energy in the diet of fattening male Bali Cattle. Four male Bali Cattle aged 1.0–1.5 years, with body weights ranging from 95.5 to 97.5 kg and an average body weight of 96.4 kg, were used in this study. The experiment employed an experimental method using
a 4 × 4 Latin Square Design (LSD), consisting of four dietary treatments and four experimental periods as replications. The treatments were as follows: P0 = 70% leucaena (Leucaena leucocephala) + 30% pellet feed without non-conventional ingredients (control); P1 = 70% leucaena + 30% pellet feed containing 30% banana corm and 70% concentrate; P2 = 70% leucaena + 30% pellet feed containing 30% rejected cassava tubers
and 70% concentrate; and P3 = 70% leucaena + 30% pellet feed containing 30% putak and 70% concentrate. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed that nitrogen-free extract consumption (g/head/day) was 1321.74 ± 243.26, 1313.04 ± 234.65, 1309.31 ± 231.50, and 1305.75 ± 18.64 for P0, P1, P2, and P3, respectively. Energy consumption (g/head/day) was 12,747.0 ± 2,344.20, 12,546.0 ± 2,237.91, 12,551.5 ± 2,217.34, and 12,373.6 ± 1,996.18 for P0, P1, P2, and P3, respectively. Nitrogen-free extract digestibility (%) was 81.61 ± 2.42, 81.87 ± 1.84, 81.57 ± 1.13, and 79.98 ± 2.69, while energy digestibility (%) was 79.07 ± 1.42, 78.37 ± 1.27, 78.13 ± 1.43, and 77.48 ± 1.71 for P0, P1, P2, and P3, respectively. Statistical analysis
indicated that the treatments had no significant effect (p > 0.05) on nitrogen-free extract consumption, energy consumption, nitrogen-free extract digestibility, or energy digestibility in the diets of fattening male Bali Cattle. It can be concluded that non- conventional energy source pellets can replace up to 30% of the concentrate in the ration of fattening male Bali Cattle without adversely affecting nutrient consumption or digestibility.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi dampak penggantian konsentrat dengan pellet sumber energi nonkonvensional terhadap konsumsi dan kecernaan bahan ekstrak tanpa nitrogen dan energi dalam ransum penggemukan Sapi Bali jantan. Penelitian ini menggunakan empat ekor Sapi Bali jantan berusia 1 hingga 1,5 tahun, dengan berat badan berkisar 95,5 hingga 97,5 kg dan berat rata-rata 96,4 kg. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimen, dengan rancangan percobaan Rancangan Bujur Sangkar Latin (RBSL) 4 perlakuan dan 4 periode sebagai ulangan. Perlakuan yang diuji adalah P0: 70% lamtoro + 30% pakan pellet tanpa bahan nonkonvensional (kontrol), P1: 70% lamtoro + 30% pakan pellet (30% bonggol pisang + 70% konsentrat), P2: 70% lamtoro + 30% pakan pellet (30% ubi kayu afkir + 70% konsentrat), dan P3: 70% lamtoro + 30% pakan pellet (30% putak + 70% konsentrat). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan analisis variasi (ANOVA).
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh konsumsi bahan ekstrak tanpa nitrogen (g/e/h) P0: 1321,74±243,26, P1: 1313,04±234,65, P2: 1309,31±231,50, P3: 1305,75±18,64, konsumsi energi (g/e/h) P0: 12747,0±2344,20, P1: 12546,0±2237,91, P2: 12551,5±2217,34, P3:12373,6±1996,18, kecernaan bahan ekstrak tanpa nitrogen (%) P0: 81,61±2,42, P1: 81,87±1,84, P2: 81,57±1,13, P3: 79,98±2,69, kecernaan energi (%) P0: 79,07±1,42, P1: 78,37±1,27, P2: 78,13±1,43, P3: 77,48±1,71. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan berpengaruh tidak nyata (p>0,05) terhadap konsumsi serta kecernaan bahan ekstrak tanpa nitrogen dan energi ransum Sapi Bali penggemukan. Disimpulkan bahwa pakan pellet sumber energi nonkonvensional dapat mensubstitusi sebanyak 30 % terhadap konsentrat dalam ransum Sapi Bali jantan penggemukan.
