Factors Related to Exclusive Breastfeeding Behavior in Infants in The Camplong Community Health Center, Kupang Regency

Abstract
Exclusive breastfeeding is the process of breastfeeding for 6 months without any additional food or drink for the baby and is beneficial for the growth, development, and immune system of the baby. The study's purpose was to examine if certain factors in the Camplong Public Health Center's working area in Kupang Regency were associated to exclusive breastfeeding for newborns. In May and June of 2021, researchers conducted this research in the Camplong Health Center's operational region in Kupang Regency. A cross-sectional design was adopted in this quantitative investigation. All women with babies aged 6-11 months living in the Camplong Health Center's operational region in 2020, specifically Kuimasi Village and Oebola Village, were included in this study, totaling 150 people. The women in this study were recruited at random from a pool of 60 women with infants aged 6 to 11 months. Questionnaires are used to collect information. The Chi-Square test was used to look at univariate and bivariate data. According to the findings, maternal education (p-value = 0.008), knowledge (p-value = 0.043), occupation (p-value = 0.039), and family support (p-value = 0.009) were all connected to exclusive breastfeeding. Meanwhile, there is no link between professional health-care help and exclusive breastfeeding (p-value = 0.117). To strengthen mother’s comprehension of exclusive breastfeeding, it is necessary to have family support, especially from partners, as well as thorough information about exclusive breastfeeding, especially from health care experts. Puskesmas was created with the goal of being able to promote exclusive breastfeeding through a range of health promotion media.
