Abstract

ABSTRACT

The aim of this research is to determine the role of farmer groups in developing the production of corn, green beans and vegetables (jakayur) in Biris Village, Wewiku District, Malacca Regency and to determine the factors that cause low production of corn, green beans and vegetables (jakayur). In  agricultural land of the Biris Village farmer group, Wewiku District, Malacca Regency and the type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. In conducting descriptive qualitative research there are 4 (four) informants as research subjects. Data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data testing and drawing conclusions. The triangulation used to explain the validity of the data is source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results of the research show that: The role of farmer groups in developing farming businesses in Biris Village includes teaching and learning classes for members of farmer groups to increase knowledge, skills, attitudes and the growth and development of independence in farming businesses thereby increasing production, and increase income, as a vehicle or unit of cooperation between members of the forum where farmers strengthen cooperation between farmers, government and extension workers, farming partnerships or consumers and the surrounding community to increase production and income, and as a unit production and business units of farmer groups carry out outreach in cultivating corn, green beans and vegetables to increase production and income
