Abstract

The study explores the types of compound words in Malay Larantuka and the word classes used to form them. It was conducted in Lebao, Puken Tobi Wangin Bao Village, Larantuka Sub-district of East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. the data was collected through observation, interview, and note-taking. The study found that Malay Larantuka has endocentric and copulative compound types, and eight combinations of word classes are used to form compound words. The findings suggest further research on compound words in Malay Larantuka for local and native speakers.
