Substitution of Energy Sources in Concentrate Feed with Fermented Corn Cob Flour for Bali Cattle in Fattening
Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the substitution of energy sources in concentrate feed with fermented corn cob flour on body temperature, respiration rate, and heart rate of fattening Bali cattle. A total of 12 fattening Bali cattle, aged 2–2.5 years, with body weights ranging from 147–189 kg (average 168.08±15.50 kg) and a coefficient of variation of 9.22%, were used in this study. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments applied were: P0: farmer feeding pattern (leucaena) + concentrate feed without substitution; P1: farmer feeding pattern (leucaena) + concentrate (substitution of rice bran with TTJF 25% and ground corn with TTJF 15%); P2: farmer feeding pattern (leucaena) + concentrate (substitution of rice bran with TTJF 35% and ground corn with TTJF 25%); P3: farmer feeding pattern (leucaena) + concentrate (substitution of rice bran with TTJF 45% and ground corn with TTJF 35%). The collected data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The results showed that the average body temperature (°C) was 36.80±1.50 for P0, 38.07±0.25 for P1, 38.47±0.23 for P2, and 37.93±0.64 for P3. Respiration rates (breaths/minute) were 18.53±2.20 for P0, 20.93±0.83 for P1, 21.60±1.59 for P2, and 19.93±1.90 for P3. Heart rates (beats/minute) were 80.73±21.59 for P0, 85.07± 6.27 for P1, 90.07±11.49 for P2, and 85.40±3.22 for P3. The ANOVA results indicated that the treatments had no significant effect on body temperature, respiration rate, or heart rate of fattening Bali cattle. It can be concluded that substituting energy sources in concentrate feed with fermented corn cob flour is able to maintain the physiological conditions of fattening Bali cattle.
Tujuan kajian ini adalah menentukan suhu tubuh, frekuensi pernapasan, dan denyut jantung sapi Bali penggemukan setelah substitusi bahan sumber energi dengan tepung tongkol jagung fermentasi yang diberi Zn biokompleks pada pakan konsentrat. Desainnya eksperimen dengan RAL, 4 perlakuan, 3 ulangan. Sampel yang digunakan adalah 12 ekor ternak berusia 2–2,5 tahun, dengan bobot tubuh 147–189 kg (rataan 168,08 ± 15,50 kg, KV 9,22%). Variabel: suhu tubuh (℃), frekuensi pernapasan (kali/detik), denyut jantung (kali/detik). Analisis penelitian menggunakan sidik ragam pola searah. Rerata suhu: P0 36,80 ± 1,50; P1 38,07 ± 0,25; P2 38,47 ± 0,23; P3 37,93 ± 0,64. Frekuensi napas: P0 18,53 ± 2,20; P1 20,93 ± 0,83; P2 21,60 ± 1,59; P3 19,93 ± 1,90. Denyut jantung: P0 80,73 ± 21,59; P1 85,07 ± 6,27; P2 90,07 ± 11,49; P3 85,40 ± 3,22. Temuan dari penelitian ini mengindikasikan bahwa tidak terdapat pengaruh signifikan antara perlakuan terhadap ketiga variabel (P > 0,05).
