Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of adding papaya juice (SBP) to tris egg yolk diluent (T-
KT) on the quality of spermatozoa from Landrace x Duroc crossbred pigs. This study used a completely
randomized design method consisting of six treatments and five replications, namely: P0 = T-KT, P1 = T-
KT + SBP 5%, P2 = T-KT + SBP 10%, P3 = T-KT + SBP 15%, P4 = T- KT + SBP 20%, and P5 = T-KT +
SBP 25%. The diluted semen was stored in a coolbox at a temperature of 15-20℃. The variables studied
included motility, viability, abnormalities, and spermatozoa survival. Data analysis used Analysis of variance
(ANOVA). The results of the treatment showed that P1 and P2 with the addition of 5% and 10% papaya juice
gave the best results and were statistically significantly different from the other five treatments (P<0.05)
resulting in P1 motility of 48.00±2.74%, viability of 60.00±4.83%, abnormality of 7.00±0.70% and P2
motility of 51.00±5.47%, viability of 65.70±5.77%, abnormality of 6.00±0.70%, and spermatozoa survival
of 52.40% and 54.88 hours. It was concluded that the addition of 5% and 10% papaya juice to egg yolk tris
diluent had a positive effect on spermatozoa motility, viability, abnormality, and survival up to 52.40% and
54.88 hours of storage.

Tujuan penelitian untuk menguji pengaruh penambahan sari buah pepaya (SBP) kedalam pengencer tris
kuning telur (T-KT) terhadap kualitas spermatozoa babi persilangan Landrace x Duroc. Penelitian ini
menggunakan metode rancangan acak lengkap yang terdiri dari enam perlakuan dan lima ulangan yaitu:
P0 = T-KT, P1 = T-KT+ SBP 5%, P2 = T-KT+ SBP 10%, P3 = T-KT + SBP 15% , P4 = T- KT+SBP 20%,
dan P5 = T-KT+ SBP 25% . Semen yang telah diencerkan disimpan pada coolbox pada suhu 15-20℃.
Variabel yang diteliti meliputi motilitas, viabilitas, abnormalitas, dan daya tahan hidup spermatozoa.
Analisis data menggunakan Analisis of variance (ANOVA). Hasil perlakuan menunjukkan bahwa P1 dan
P2 dengan penambahan sari buah pepaya 5% dan 10% memberikan hasil terbaik dan secara statistik berbeda
nyata dengan lima perlakuan lainnya (P<0,05) menghasilkan motilitas P1 sebesar 48,00±2,74% , viabilitas
60,00±4,83%, abnormalitas 7,00±0,70% dan motilitas P2 sebesar 51,00 ± 5,47%, viabilitas 65,70 ± 5,77%,
abnormalitas 6,00 ± 0,70%, dan daya tahan hidup spermatozoa 52,40% dan 54,88 jam. Disimpulkan bahwa
penambahan sari buah pepaya 5% dan 10% pada pengencer tris kuning telur memberikan pengaruh positif
terhadap motilitas, viabilitas, abnormalitas, dan daya tahan hidup spermatozoa hingga penyimpanan
52,40% dan 54,88 jam.
