Abstract
This study is entitled “Michael Riffaterre,s Semiotic Analysis of the Lyrics of the Song Mana Lolo Banda”. The purpose of the study is to find out what meanings are contained in the lyrics of the song Mana Lolo Banda. The theory used in this study is the theory of semiotics according to Michael Riffaterre. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method in the from of words and writing. The analysis is focused on structural analysis of the substitution of meaning, deviation of meaning, and creation of meaning. Continued analysis of meaning with a scope of three things, namely heuristic reading, hermeneutic reading, and matrix, model, varian. The results of the study show that this song tells the story of the work of a herder who will go to herd cattle in the morning and return home at dusk.
