Abstract

This study analyzes the form and meaning of metaphors in the lyrics of the song Daerah Manggarai by Eddy Ngambut. The purpose of this study is to describe the form and meaning displayed in the lyrics of the song Mas Mongko, Kapu Somba Momang, Bembong Lajar, Nipi Lonto Cimping by Eddy Ngambut. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. The data collection techniques used are free listening techniques and note-taking techniques. The data analysis techniques used in this study are data triangulation, identifying metaphors in song lyrics, interpreting structural metaphors, orientational metaphors, and ontological metaphors in song lyrics based on Lakoff and Johnson's metaphor theory. The results of the study show that the forms and metaphors found in conceptual metaphors are 17 forms of metaphor. There are 8 data for structural metaphors, 1 data for orientational metaphors, and 8 data for ontological metaphors. The conclusion discusses the general description of the songwriter and the discussion of the forms and meanings of metaphors in each song lyric.
