Abstract

This study aims to improve letter writing skills of first-grade students at SD GMIT Manumuti through the application of the airwriting method. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. The subjects of the study
consisted of 22 students. Data collection techniques included observation, written tests (pre-test and post-test), and documentation.
The results showed that the air-writing method had a positive impact on improving students' letter writing skills. The
improvements were evident in letter legibility, neatness, size consistency, stroke direction, and writing fluency. Based on the
analysis, the air-writing method is proven to be an effective strategy in overcoming writing difficulties in first-grade students. This
research was conducted at SD GMIT Manumuti. The results of the study showed that in Cycle I (Pre-Test), only 6 out of 22
students (27%) achieved the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKTP), while 16 students (73%) did not meet the criteria, which was
due to the learning process not being sufficiently engaging for the students. In Cycle II, there was a significant improvement.
From the same number of students, 18 (82%) met the KKTP, while 4 students (18%) had not yet achieved the expected level and
were given follow-up actions in the form of remedial instruction. In the post-test of Cycle I, 12 students (55%) had reached the
"sufficient" category and met the KKTP, while 10 students (45%) still did not meet the required criteria. However, in the post-test
of Cycle II, student performance showed a remarkable improvement, with 20 students (91%) achieving the mastery criteria, and
only 2 students (9%) not yet meeting the KKTP standard
