MEMBACA WAJAH IBU KANDUNG DAN IBU PERTIWI DALAM FILM TANAH AIR BETA: SEBUAH KAJIAN SEMIOTIK

Abstract

The article analyses a Film by Ari Sihasale: Tanah Air Beta. The film is about the lives of refugees caught in double depression,
to leave their family or to choose Indonesia as their new country or to leave Indonesia for their family? However the worst case is their
limit of understanding about civil war after the referendum on 8 May 1999. Theory used in this study is perspective semiotics by
Roland Barthes. Semiotics by Barthes analyses meaning through denotation, connotation and myth. Method used in this study is
qualitative method. The method is used because the analyzed data are sentences or paragraphs consisting of denotation, connotation
and myth. Result of the study shows that the Tanah Air Beta film exhibits sufferings of refugees living in emergency evacuation,
psychological pain of the refugees leaving their families and their uncertainty lives in Indonesia.
