Abstract
Mastery of foreign languages can be a valuable asset for growth and competition in the rapidly advancing era of globalization. With the vision of becoming a "Globally Oriented University," Universitas Nusa Cendana provides a language centre as a hub for foreign language training and linguistic services in Kota Kupang. As a unit under Undana, which has transitioned to the status of a Public Service Agency (BLU), the language centre facilitates linguistic services for the academic community and the general public in Kota Kupang. The increasing number of users and the diverse foreign language training facilities highlight the need to design the Universitas Nusa Cendana Language Center. This design also aligns with the master plan for developing Universitas Nusa Cendana's campus environment. The design adopts green architecture principles that reflect the university's image as a "smart and green campus." The implementation of green architecture principles includes Conserving Energy through a streamlined building design to optimize energy efficiency and the use of solar panels as an energy source; Working with Climate by considering building orientation and incorporating a green roof and skylight to maximize the utilization of natural resources; Respect for Site through vertical floor construction and a podium parking system to minimize land use; Respect for Users by implementing passive design in space layout and the use of a double-skin facade with environmentally friendly materials; Minimizing New Resources by utilizing local and recycled materials and designing flexible spaces adaptable to needs; Holistic with an inner courtyard and green roof designed as public spaces.
