Abstract

Building envelope design has an important role in creating thermal comfort in buildings, and a good envelope design can impact energy use in buildings. The application of the Double Skin Facade (DSF) is one of the efforts to achieve a sustainable design, various studies have been conducted to examine the efficiency of using DSF on thermal comfort and energy reduction in buildings. The purpose of this study is to review the application of DSF in tropical climates on building energy efficiency. The method used in this study is a literature review of research related to DSF that has been carried out, especially in tropical areas, by looking at the various parameters tested, to see the performance of DSF in reducing energy in buildings. The results show that a DSF that is designed with good attention to each parameter can reduce energy consumption significantly, this means that DSF can be applied to buildings in tropical areas for energy-saving purposes.
