Post-Publication Discussion

Jurnal Communio recognises that scholarly inquiry continues beyond the publication of an article. Published research remains open to critical examination, alternative interpretations, methodological reflection, and constructive academic dialogue. Such engagement is integral to the development of knowledge and the continued relevance of Communication Science.

The journal welcomes evidence-based discussion of its published articles and is committed to providing a fair and accessible means through which readers, researchers, and authors may contribute to ongoing scholarly exchange.

1. Scope of Post-Publication Discussion

Post-publication discussion may address theoretical arguments, research methodologies, analytical approaches, interpretations of findings, and the wider scholarly implications of articles published in Jurnal Communio.

The journal welcomes reasoned academic engagement with research across the diverse traditions of Communication Science, including media studies, intercultural communication, digital communication, public relations, political communication, and other related fields.

Contributions may offer alternative theoretical perspectives, question methodological assumptions, clarify the interpretation of research findings, or identify matters that warrant further scholarly consideration.

Given the interpretive and interdisciplinary character of communication research, the journal acknowledges that different theoretical perspectives and analytical approaches may lead to legitimate differences in scholarly interpretation. Such differences are welcomed when supported by sound reasoning and relevant evidence. Post-publication discussion is intended to advance academic understanding rather than challenge the personal or professional standing of individual researchers.

2. Submission of Scholarly Comments and Responses

Readers, researchers, and other interested members of the academic community may submit scholarly comments, questions, or critiques concerning articles published in Jurnal Communio.

Correspondence should be directed to the editorial office through the journal's official contact email:  jikom@undana.ac.id

Submissions should identify the article concerned, including its title, author(s), and DOI or publication URL, and provide a concise explanation of the issue being raised.

Comments should be academically relevant, clearly articulated, and supported by appropriate scholarly reasoning or evidence.

Where a submission raises substantive questions about a published article, the editorial team may invite the original author or authors to provide a response.

Authors are encouraged to engage constructively with scholarly criticism and to clarify their arguments or findings where appropriate.

The journal does not require authors to agree with every criticism or alternative interpretation. Academic disagreement may remain unresolved where differing positions are supported by legitimate scholarly arguments.

3. Editorial Assessment and Moderation

All submissions intended for post-publication discussion will be considered by the Editor-in-Chief or an appropriately designated editor.

The editorial team will assess the relevance, scholarly merit, clarity, and evidential basis of the matters raised.

Where necessary, additional clarification or independent academic assessment may be requested before a comment or response is considered for publication or other editorial acknowledgement.

Submissions must maintain a professional and respectful tone. Personal attacks, defamatory statements, discriminatory remarks, unsupported accusations, and material unrelated to the scholarly substance of the published article will not be accepted.

The journal reserves the right to decline, request revision of, or discontinue correspondence that does not contribute meaningfully to scholarly discussion.

Where an editor has a relevant competing interest in the article or discussion concerned, responsibility for its assessment will be assigned to another suitably qualified editor.

4. Communication and Publication of Responses

Jurnal Communio may facilitate post-publication discussion through editorial correspondence, scholarly comments, or other appropriate forms of academic exchange.

Where a contribution offers significant scholarly value, the editorial team may consider making the discussion or the authors' response publicly accessible through an appropriate journal publication or communication channel.

The decision to publish a comment or response rests with the editorial team and will depend on its scholarly relevance, academic quality, and compliance with the journal's editorial standards.

Where practicable, publicly available discussions should clearly identify the original article and provide an appropriate reference or link to the work being discussed.

The journal encourages balanced scholarly exchange and will ordinarily provide the original authors with a reasonable opportunity to respond to substantive criticism considered for public dissemination.

Publication of a scholarly critique does not imply that the journal endorses every interpretation or conclusion advanced by its author.
