About the Journal
Early Childhood Education Development and Studies (ECEDS) is a peer-reviewed open-access scientific journal published by the Early Childhood Education Teacher Education Study Program (PGPAUD), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Nusa Cendana, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. ECEDS has been published since 2020 and is issued twice a year, in April and October.

Focus and Scope
ECEDS is dedicated to advancing scholarship in early childhood education and child development, with a distinctive focus on the contexts of Eastern Indonesia, remote and underserved communities, and 3T regions (frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped areas). The journal publishes original empirical research, systematic literature reviews, and case study reports that contribute new knowledge to the field.

The scope of ECEDS covers the following thematic areas:Child Development - cognitive, language, social-emotional, moral, physical-motor, and creative-aesthetic development across early childhood

  • Play-Based Learning - the role of play, educational games, and learning through exploration in early childhood settings
  • Early Childhood Curriculum - curriculum design, implementation, evaluation, and reform in PAUD
  • Pedagogy and Learning - approaches, models, strategies, methods, and media in early childhood educationCulturally Responsive Practice — indigenous-based pedagogy, local wisdom integration, and multicultural education in PAUD
  • Parenting and Family Engagement - parenting styles, parent-teacher partnerships, and family-based stimulation
  • Child Nutrition, Health, and Wellbeing - holistic health promotion, stunting prevention, and nutritional interventions in early childhood
  • Technology and Digital Literacy - use of digital tools, educational technology, and screen time in early childhood education
  • Inclusive Education - early identification, intervention, and support for children with special needs and developmental delays
  • Teacher Professional Development - educator competence, training, wellbeing, and identity in PAUD
  • Early Childhood Education Policy and Governance - national and local policy, regulation, and advocacy for PAUD quality

Peer Review Policy
All manuscripts submitted to ECEDS undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the evaluation. Each manuscript is reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. The editorial decision — accepted, minor revision, major revision, or rejected — is made by the Editor in Chief based on reviewer recommendations. The estimated review process takes 4–8 weeks from submission.


Publication Ethics
ECEDS is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to adhere to ethical responsibilities regarding originality, plagiarism, data integrity, authorship, and conflict of interest. Manuscripts submitted to ECEDS must not have been previously published or be under review elsewhere simultaneously. All research involving human participants must obtain informed consent and ethical clearance from a recognized institutional review board (IRB).


Open Access Policy
ECEDS is an open-access journal. All articles are freely available online immediately upon publication, without subscription or paywall. Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles under the terms of the CC BY-SA 4.0 license, provided proper attribution is given to the original work.
