Pemurnian Bertahap NaOH–H₂SO₄ terhadap Abu Sekam Padi dari Pulau Sumba untuk Produksi Silika Kemurnian Tinggi
Abstract
Silika berhasil dimurnikan dari abu sekam padi yang berasal dari tiga sentra produksi padi di Pulau Sumba, Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia, yaitu varietas Ciherang asal Anakalang (A), varietas Ciherang asal Kodi (B), dan varietas Inpari asal Waikabubak (C). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi peningkatan kemurnian silika melalui perlakuan bertahap menggunakan natrium hidroksida (NaOH) yang diikuti dengan pengendapan menggunakan asam sulfat (H₂SO₄). Tahapan penelitian meliputi preparasi abu sekam padi, pemurnian menggunakan NaOH, pengendapan menggunakan H₂SO₄, serta analisis komposisi menggunakan X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF). Hasil analisis XRF menunjukkan bahwa kadar SiO₂ pada abu sekam padi awal berada pada kisaran 93,6–95,1%. Setelah perlakuan NaOH, kadar SiO₂ meningkat menjadi 96,8–98,7%, kemudian kembali meningkat setelah pengendapan menggunakan H₂SO₄ hingga mencapai 98,3–99,2%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses pemurnian bertahap menggunakan NaOH dan H₂SO₄ secara efektif meningkatkan kemurnian silika pada seluruh sampel, dengan kadar SiO₂ tertinggi sebesar 99,2% pada sampel C.
