Plagiarism Policy
Buletin Ilmiah IMPAS is committed to maintaining academic integrity and upholding high ethical standards in scholarly publishing. All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original works and must not contain plagiarism, including the unauthorized use or reproduction of ideas, words, data, images, or other intellectual contributions belonging to others.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that all sources used in their manuscripts are properly acknowledged and cited. Direct quotations must be clearly identified and accompanied by appropriate references. Paraphrased ideas, data, and other materials derived from previously published or unpublished sources must also be properly attributed.
Similarity Screening
All submitted manuscripts may undergo a similarity check using plagiarism-detection software as part of the editorial screening process. Similarity reports are used by the Editorial Team as a tool to identify potentially problematic textual overlap and are not treated as the sole basis for determining plagiarism.
The Editorial Team evaluates similarity in context by considering the source and nature of the matching text, proper citation and quotation, the location of the similarity within the manuscript, and whether the overlap indicates inappropriate reproduction of another work.
Accordingly, a similarity percentage alone does not automatically determine whether a manuscript is considered plagiarized.
Forms of Plagiarism
Practices considered unacceptable include, but are not limited to:
- copying text, ideas, data, tables, figures, or other materials from another source without appropriate attribution;
- presenting another person's ideas or findings as the author's own;
- paraphrasing material from another source without proper citation;
- using substantial portions of previously published material without appropriate acknowledgement or permission where required;
- self-plagiarism or text recycling, including inappropriate reuse of substantial portions of an author's previously published work without proper citation;
- duplicate or redundant publication of substantially the same work in more than one publication; and
- manipulating citations or references to conceal the original source of material.
Editorial Action
If potential plagiarism or inappropriate textual overlap is identified before publication, the Editorial Team may request clarification or revision from the authors, reject the manuscript, or take other appropriate editorial action depending on the nature and seriousness of the case.
If plagiarism is identified after publication, the journal will investigate the matter and may issue a correction, retraction, or other appropriate notice when necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
Authors may be asked to provide supporting information or clarification during an investigation. The journal will handle suspected cases fairly and give the authors concerned an opportunity to respond before a final editorial decision is made.
Author Responsibility
By submitting a manuscript to Buletin Ilmiah IMPAS, the authors declare that the work is original, that all sources have been appropriately acknowledged, and that the manuscript does not infringe the intellectual property rights of others.
Authors bear primary responsibility for the originality and integrity of their submitted work. Acceptance of a manuscript does not relieve authors of responsibility for any plagiarism or other breaches of publication ethics subsequently identified.
Buletin Ilmiah IMPAS reserves the right to take appropriate editorial action whenever plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct are identified, either before or after publication.
